Diets suck… but you guys are great

April 25, 2008

I’m now on day 2 of my Thin Thursday quest.  So far, it’s working the way that I hoped it would.  Every time I wanted to cram something in my mouth that wasn’t good for me, I remembered what I posted here, and the fact that I’m putting a picture of my (currently) fat ass up here for ya’ll to see in just eight short weeks.  (WTF was I smoking when I came up with that fabulous idea?)

Really, though… knowing that I have some measure of accountability is helping me so far.  Wanna know what I ate yesterday?  It’s wayyy better than my normal diet:

  • Oatmeal w/ a half cup of milk
  • Half an orange
  • Weight Watchers frozen meal for lunch
  • Apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter
  • 100 calorie popcorn mini bag
  • 70 calories of mini rice cakes
  • Dinner: Steak, grilled veggies and some baked potato
  • Orange for dessert

Definitely not perfect (should probably have had less for dinner, and I need to reduce my snacking a little) but it’s a far cry from what I usually eat.  I’m thinking that I might join WW online, especially so I can plan on healthier dinners.

On the exercise front, I went on a 30 minute run/walk with Aiden in his jogging stroller.  I am feeling it today.  Ow!

Thank you all for your supportive comments!  It’s nice to know that you’re rooting me on.  And a few of you have mentioned that you wanna jump on the weightloss bandwagon (if you’re not already doing so).  Frema is gonna be a weightloss buddy for me, and Melissa even offered to post her own swimsuit pic in 8 weeks!  Anyone else wanna join us?  If you want to just dedicate yourself to losing weight and would rather not post a picture, that’s cool too.  It’s just my way of keeping myself accountable.

This could turn into something like Shape of a Mother (which I love, but you will not see random flashes of boob and bush in MY photos on my website, thankyouverymuch).

So, let me know if you want to join us!  Leave a comment here and post on your own blog!  Strength in numbers and all that jazz.  I’m off to join WW and get in a run with Aiden before I have to work on a magazine article today.  Have a great Friday and an even better weekend!

xo

Those mini popcorn bags are the best! It’s like a point and totally filling!

If you love ice cream, check out the WW english toffee bars… my favorite!!!

I think you did GREAT yesterday!!!! My WW leader always suggested eating something with the frozen meals like carrots or something… and for me it keeps me from feeling hungry like 2 hours later, because they are small!

    Have a great weekend!

Well, Kelly, since I offered to be your cyber-buddy too, I will post a picture of me in my swimsuit over the weekend, and we’ll see how I look in six weeks.

I need all the motivation I can get.

    Yeah, web motivation!

Now if only I had somewhere GLAMOROUS to wear my swimsuit in 8 weeks!

I don’t think you snacked too much at yesterday. (Assvice: don’t forget the dairy! It builds strong bones!) And it’s awesome that you took Aiden with you on your run/walk… it’s a great way to role model positive behaviors. Looks like you’re off to a great start!

I’m on my 5th week back with WW. It’s hard..but it’s good for me. Like you I was eating whatever and whenever I wanted. Not a good way to live.

I’m not sure I’m ready to post pics of me in my swimming suit on my blog…but I’m here to support you on your journey to a better lifestyle!

I recently lost 35 lbs (although now that I’m pregnant, it’s all over). One of the best tricks is to drink water constantly. A lot of times we think we’re hungry when we’re actually thirsty. It’s also great for your metabolism.

And the walk is a great start! I’m proud of you for putting this out there!

I’d love to join, but currently 12 weeks pregnant so right now my focus is on slowly gaining a healthy amount of weight. I will however be joining the WW bandwagon as soon as I pop the baby out because I have whole closet full of jeans from before my first pregnancy that I will fit into again and if I have to use posting a picture of myself on the internet as my motivation, bring it on!

I have to admit I have been reading your blog for quite awhile now. I found you on my friend, Sterlingirl’s, blog page. I find you very entertaining and always look forward to your blog entries.

I also have a blog page, however, I haven’t written on it in FOREVER. I can be found on Sterlingirl’s blogpage under “This is the way we roll.”

Anyway, just got done reading about your weight loss journey. I just wanted to share that I recently joined WW on-line and I love it. It’s got tons of stuff and isn’t that expensive either. Being that I am a mother to a 2 1/2 year old little girl I understand the desire to lose some extra pounds.

So, if you are thinking about the WW thing you can go on-line right now and do a free trial. Good Luck and I’m sure you will meet your goal.

I am on weight watchers. I will put up some pics. I don’t have a blog but I’ll put them on photobucket for you.

I’m a lurker. And jumping on the bandwagon. :)

I don’t have a blog, but I read yours regularly and just wanted to let you know that I will be joining you too! In fact, we sound soooo similar…my lowest weight ever was 117, that was 2 summers ago when I was 26 years old. I weighed 130 when I got pregnant last June, gained 50 pounds and weighed 180 right before I delivered my daughter in February 2008…and now I weigh 146 also! And I’m also 5′2”. So this will be good for me to try to keep up with you since we are pretty much on the same page, it sounds. Since I don’t have a blog, I can just post my updates in your comments if that’s cool :)

Can I jump on the bandwagon in a slightly different way? I’ve actually lost all the weight I wanted, but I’m completely and totally out of shape. EVERYTHING jiggles… and I’m seriously digusted by it. So instead of loosing weight, can I instead just use this as a motivation to get toned? Will you guys forgive me for that one?

And I’m thinking my blog and will be posting asap about how I’m going to join up with this. This is a great idea!! :)

I came here via Melissa’s site. I posted over there, that I may post a picture, but right now I’m 12 weeks pregnant so instead of showing off how great my body will look (haha), I’ll be sporting a baby bump instead! We’ll see!

  • 15. Rachel  |  June 12, 2008 at 1:25 pm

I would totally jump on the bandwagon, since I am trying to lose weight and get into shape, but, uh, it’s already June 12th and it has already been 6 weeks, so I have to skip out on posting a pic. See what happens when I get so far behind on blog reading!
