My baby girl turned ONE on Sunday, February 20th. I find it so hard to believe, because time has simply gone so quickly since her addition to our family. We celebrated Lilah’s birthday with a family party, complete with cake and an ice cream social! To prepare, Aiden and I worked hard to create a birthday banner for the birthday girl. Her party was a blast, and we will always have special memories of the day our family celebrated her first year.
Oh, Lilah. How do I possibly sum you up in a few paragraphs? At age one, you are sweet, bright, talkative, loving, feisty, and on the move! You now weigh 23 pounds, 10 ounces, and are 31 inches tall. You have 4 top and 4 bottom teeth, which you use to give us the widest, toothy smiles we have ever seen. You have the most beautiful lips we have ever seen… that was one of the first things we noticed about you when you were born, and those sweet little lips are still bright red and shaped like a rosebud. You have huge blue eyes framed by a long set of dark lashes. About the only thing you are lacking is some hair! :) At this point you have fuzzy blonde hair that reminds us of Aiden’s hair in its coloring. We’re looking forward to some long hair that I can put bows in (but you don’t like ANYTHING on your head, so that will be a battle, I bet!)
You are on the go! You’ve been walking since 10.5 months, but in the past few weeks you have really chosen to walk as your main mode of transportation. You are so proud of yourself, too. You will blow kisses, wave hi, give me kisses on the mouth if asked, and you like to headbutt us affectionately. Flirting with men is your specialty. You seriously act coy and make eyes at anyone of the male persuasion. Favorite men include your dad, brother, and “Little” PopPop.
Talking is turning out to be a specialty of yours, as well. You are one heck of a mimic, and are constantly repeating the sounds we make. So far, you have a pretty impressive list of words that you use, including MAMA, DADA, AIDEN, BROTHER, DOGGIE, NO NO NO, UH OH, BLUEBERRY, and HI. I also think you are saying BABY, PRETTY, and MORE, but I’m not quite sure if you’re just repeating what I say or are actually using the words on your own. Regardless, you like to make little speeches and we are your happy audience.
You sleep pretty well. You are a champ at going to sleep on your own, in your crib. Thank God for that! You still wake up one to two times at night to nurse, but I don’t mind since you sleep about 12 hours a night and when you do wake up, you go back to sleep quickly.
You continue to adore your big brother, and he loves you just as fiercely. Lilah, you are so lucky to have him. He plays with you so sweetly and tries to take such good care of you. Right now your favorite games are to chase each other, play hide and seek, and you love to push him as he sits on a toy car. I can’t wait to see you play and grow together, and I hope you two always treasure each other.

- DOGGIES! You hug them and like to lie on top of them. You also like to eat their food if you can get away with it.
- Eating! Favorite foods include strawberries, blueberries, and cheese. Oh, and noodles. You love those, just like Mama.
- Books! Watching you “read” is the cutest thing. You flip through books and talk as you look at each page.
- Music! Music calms you when you are upset and makes you want to dance. Bouncy baby booty… simply adorable.
We are loving the opportunity to watch your sweet, feisty personality become more apparent each day. It’s hard to imagine a time that you weren’t ever a part of our family. We love you, baby girl.
