Bullet Points

3 Aug

Well.  I was on such a nice blogging roll there for a while, and then everything just went crazy.  But I’ve been missing from the blog scene for a good reason… our house is under contract! Here’s the latest, in bullets.

  • Received and accepted offer on the house in late July. HALLELUJAH!
  • Buyers want to settle by AUGUST 31st.  We have less than a month to find a new house.
  • Frantic real estate search ensues. We find most houses need a lot of work to be our dream home and carry a hefty price tag.
  • We even tour a house that I SWEAR WAS A 70′s SWINGER HANGOUT.  Think giant red soaking tub, a CAROUSEL HORSE in the giant master bedroom, and a “CERTIFIED MASSAGE THERAPIST” certificate on the wall.  Oh em gee.
  • We discover a beautiful new community being built in Baltimore County, in a fabulous school district, well within our budget, 30 minutes from Jason’s work, and very close to family.  Oh, and did I mention it bumps up to mature trees and to a pretty park with playing fields, walking trails, and a nice playground right outside our (future) front door? SOLD!
  • Our current house is inspected and appraised. No issues arise.
  • Currently deciding which lot we are gonna build our dream home on.
  • OH CRAP.  We are moving out of our house in less than 30 days!!!!
  • We haven’t packed a thing.
  • What the hell, let’s just go on our regularly scheduled family vacation anyway. Packing can wait until two weeks from our move-out date, right?
  • OH CRAP. We haven’t figured out where we are going to live (rent) while that dream house is built. Oh well, that can wait until after vacation, too, right? (I am obviously dealing with lots of laziness and denial of all the crazy stuff that’s gonna go down in the next few weeks.)
  • I think we need to have a moving sale.
  • And also maybe perhaps buy some moving boxes?
  • And rent a storage unit?
  • And possibly GET A GRIP?

Exciting times.  Crazy times. CHAOTIC TIMES.

Edited to add: This was my 500th post! I think this major-life-change stuff is a great tipping point to the next 500 posts to come!

I was JUST thinking about you last night, realizing you’ve been kind of absent (but totally understanding why!) Lots of craziness, but SO exciting! I hope you get everything figured out, and have fun on vacation!!

I was just thinking about you! Figuring you were packing stuff and wigging out.

Building a house, though?! SUPER EXCITING!

So happy for you guys and all these exciting changes! But yes, sounds like total craziness! Moving, selling, and buying a house all at once, especially with kids = NUTS! May you get through it and find absolute joy and happiness on the other side! :)
