We have been waiting for a while for construction to begin on our new home in Maryland. Finally, all paperwork is completed, permits obtained, and things are getting started!
Here’s our lot , before anything actually began. It is one of the larger lots in our neighborhood, and something we really like about our lot is that we won’t have houses on both sides of us, just one neighbor to the left (looking from the street).
The tree you see in this photo is just past our property line, but the entire area beyond the tree is open, private space surrounded by trees. Basically, it’s bonus land that we get to use as our own. I can see us using this space as a spot to practice baseball, throw a football around, or spread out during the kids’ birthday parties.
We love that we will have lots of privacy, peace and quiet, and easy access to the woods (which are actually part of a beautiful county park). I hope the kids like exploring and hiking the trails back there!
Today was very exciting, as our builder broke ground!
Now we can see a basic footprint of the house. Toward the back right side, we’ll have a sunroom. Garage will be to the left side, and the front stoop will feature a porch.
Just lots of dirt piles for now, but it won’t be long until the foundation goes in. If the weather cooperates, I was told we will see framing begin in a week or two! And I know of one little boy who is eagerly anticipating each step of the construction process!
EXCITING!!!!!!
