Reading List
I’m making a new dedication to reading. Curling up with a good book is one of my greatest pleasures, and I’m hoping to read some good ones! I’ll be crossing them off as I complete them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
Currently in the queue:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime(Mark Haddon) very good
The Road (Cormac McCarthy) loved it… so very sad!
The Time Traveler’s Wife(Audrey Niffenegger) Wonderful! I was glued to this book!
Persuasion (Jane Austen)
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close(Jonathan Safran Foer)
Love in the Time of Cholera (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
Open House (Elizabeth Berg) good, but I wasn’t blown away.
Midwives(Chris Bohjalian) Good read.
I Know This Much Is True (Wally Lamb)
The Deep End of the Ocean(Jacqueline Mitchard)
As I Lay Dying (William Faulkner)
Black and Blue(Anna Quindlen)
Watership Down (Richard Adams)
Drowning Ruth(Christina Schwarz)
Wuthering Heights (Charlotte Bronte)
Rhett Butler’s People(Donald McCaig)
I Am America (And So Can You!) (Stephen Colbert)
The Choice (Nicholas Sparks)
The Kite Runner(Khaled Hosseini) fantastic
The Almost Moon(Alice Sebold)
Wicked(Gregory Maguire) pretty good, but not what I expected

You should read “The Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova. They are both modern novels, but quite old fashioned in their script etc. Both great reads - I enjoyed them - I will be trying a few from your list. I’m a bookworm too

Can I offer a suggestion? Add “The Bronze Horseman” by Paullina Simons to your list. The first 50 pages are slow, but after that its so worth it.

Great book list! Have you read “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini? It is also a great book. “Water for Elephans” by Sara Gruen is also a good book, and, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith is one of the best books I have read this year!

I second the recommendation for “Water for Elephans” by Sara Gruen. This book is a page turner and really really good. I think you’ll like it.

Have you read “She’s Come Undone” by Wally Lamb? I suggest it if you haven’t yet. I loved it. It is interesting and goes through a million different emotions.
